Design of a spray column for CO2 capture
Veselý, Filip ; Malý, Milan (referee) ; Cejpek, Ondřej (advisor)
This work deals with methods of CO2 separation from flue gases in energy industry and industrial processes in order to reduce CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Bachelor thesis discusses the post-combustion CO2 capture using spray columns. After literature review of separation processes and experiments conducted before, advantages and disadvantages of separation processes are discussed. The following part of bachelor thesis is dedicated to the analysis of spray column components. At the end of this chapter the suitable components are chosen and designed. The main outcome of the work is a conceptual design of a spray column. Spray column is designed for research purposes at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in spray labs. In the design procedure main aim was devoted to suitable spray columns design for optical experiments. During the spray column design the space requirements of the laboratory and economic of the design need to be accounted.
Assessment of CCS and CCU methods
Kroupa, Zdeněk ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The thesis focuses on CCS and CCU technologies, which could find application in industry and other sectors in the future. These technologies are used to reduce CO2 emissions, mainly from point sources. This thesis provides a comprehensive overview and division of CCS and CCU technologies and points out negative effects of its installation. Part of the work is also a comparison of individual steps of technology, both from an energetic and financial point of view. The aim is to show a wide range of influences on the final price and a significant discrepancy in the results of some scientific works. At the same time, in some parts, you can find a detailed description of individual parts of the technology.
Balance sheet calculations for CCS technologies
Kotráš, Pavel ; Lisý, Martin (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This thesis deals with CCS technology. In the first part, the main greenhouse gas carbon dioxide is described. The second part focuses on the description of the CCS technology and possible methods of capturing carbon dioxide and other gases. The third part is devoted to the calculations for the application of CCS technology, specifically the high-temperature carbonate loop, to a real lignite-fired power plant. At the end of the thesis is the overall balance of the power plant, which includes a comparison with and without the use of CCS technology.
